Atención del paciente adulto con quemaduras, análisis del manejo inicial y tratamiento

Abstract:

Background: There are clinical situations within the care in the emergency department that take the medical professional to the extreme their capacity and knowledge; one of them is the burned patient. At the moment the patient is received the burns must have a secondary site, the main thing is to ensure that there is no imminent risk of death. To do this, the assessment should be started based on the guides of the advanced life support in the trauma and start the necessary procedures if required. The burned patient requires special handling, taking into account the calculation of their severity varies according to the characteristics of each burn and that the handling and resuscitation will be performed differently for each case. Objective: This study aims to evaluate the management and initial treatment in the care of adults with burns entering the emergency service of the Hospital "Dr. Verdi Cevallos Balda" in the city of Portoviejo through the application of a survey to health personnel. Methodology: It will be a quantitative research, of non-experimental design, of descriptive, analytical type and transversal cut; it will allow to determine the characteristics of each burn as well as the type of initial management and treatment for each particular case. Results: A total of 33 health servers were evaluated for adults with burns. 100% of the personnel surveyed obtained an unsatisfactory final score (all cases with a score lower than 6). 84.85% of the personnel surveyed consider that material and human resources are insufficient.
