A new sedimentological data set in the Kimmeridgian/Tithonian deposits of the Boulonnais, France

Abstract:

Comparison between the sequential organization and the organic matter content shows that the organic matter is preferentially preserved during maximum flooding periods in sequences where the amplitude of the paleobathymetric variations are at a maximum. The turnover from smectite to illite/kaolinite dominated clay assemblages occur mainly during periods of maximum downward shifts of sediment.
