Augmented reality as a support resource in the teaching-learning process
Abstract:
Augmented reality (AR) is a technology that brings multiple resources to the educational field. It allows the student to perceive the real environment "augmented" through certain virtual objects in order to teach different subjects, as in the case of anatomy, the discipline used in the study. The main objective of the research is to design, implement and evaluate a didactic proposal based on augmented reality. For this purpose, a quantitative, quasi-experimental, expository, cross-sectional, descriptive research was designed, with the creation of a 20-item test that serves as an instrument for measuring the outcome of the teaching-learning (E-A) process, and a survey consisting of 10 items, for its application, two groups of students who received training in anatomy were used, the first group called control group consisting of 31 students who used traditional methods, in parallel the same subject was taught to an experimental group of 31 students through the use of a mobile application of AR. At the end of the experiment, the evaluation was applied to each group, obtaining the following results: the control group obtained a mean of 2.77 out of 10 and a standard deviation of .956, while the experimental group obtained a mean of 7.97 out of 10 and a standard deviation of .875. On the other hand, the survey was applied to the experimental group in reference to the use of AR, who showed full satisfaction with the experience received and consider that AR resources awaken in them the motivation to use it, due to its ease of use and the interaction they experience between the content and the virtual objects, generating knowledge with entertainment. However, from the students' perspective, the adoption of AR by teachers will be a challenge that teachers must address, since its implementation will require the development of technological, pedagogical and content competencies for an adequate application in the classroom.
