Abstract:

This research dealt with the problem of self-esteem in early education, in which serious limitations have been recognized to the construction of self-concept, by family and school factors that have harmed the establishment of positive value judgments about themselves, of each boy and girl of initial education level. The objective under which it was developed is to diagnose the current state of the development of the self-esteem of boys and girls of level initial of the Educational Unit Luis A. Martinez of the Salcedo city. For this purpose, a methodology of critical socio-paradigm, qualitative approach, bibliographic-documentary and field designing has been used to achieve a level of exploratory and descriptive researching through the application of survey techniques, interview and observation sheet to parents, teachers and students respectively. The beneficiaries of the research process were the students, teachers and parents, who participated actively and cooperatively in the research process, thus showing interest in the problem under investigation. The contribution of the researching at a theoretical level was the compilation of scientific concepts that have supported the importance of strengthening children's self-esteem from an early age, and at a practical level, the project provided valuable information that allows the educational community to demonstrate the existence of problems in the development of children's self-esteem. As a result of the research it was established that the teacher lacks active strategies to apply in the classroom that are aimed at improving children's self-esteem, parents have harmful practices for the development of self-esteem, such as the limited time they spend with their children. children and the lack of concrete samples of affection towards children, which has generated as a consequence that the children of the initial level of education II have a low self-esteem, reflected in their behaviors and behaviors, for this reason the completion of especially group activities in which the whole group helps to strengthen individual self-esteem.
