Automated system for conducting usability and accessibility inspections

Abstract:

The growth in the number of applications and technological resources built for different contexts has led to the development of user-centered applications. In this sense, one of the most widespread methods to evaluate usability and accessibility is heuristic inspection. Given this scenario, there is a need for tools that make it possible to conduct this type of evaluation with heuristics associated with different fields of application. In this paper, we propose a software system for the automation of usability and accessibility inspections based on heuristic principles. The software system was evaluated with a case study taking as reference the five Nielsen quality attributes. The results demonstrated that the proposed system allows the configuration of heuristics and criteria of a specific context, for the evaluation of a given software, automatically obtaining statistical and graphical analyzes.
