A new synthesis of nanopore (MCM-41), subnanopore (ZSM-5) and composites ZSM-5/MCM-41 from venezuelan kaolin. Effect of CTAB/Si ratio
Abstract:
The use of national kaolin and silicates as feedstock for the synthesis of micropore (ZSM-5, sub-nanometric dimensions: 0.56 nm), mesopore (MCM-41, nanometric dimensions: 3 nm) and composites subnano/nano pores (ZSM-5/MCM- 41) materials was succesful. The pure phases ZSM-5 and Al-MCM-41were synthesized using TPA and CTABr as structure directing agent, respectively. The composite materials were prepared from zeolites crystalised for 18 or 24 h and surfactant/Si = 0.26 or 0.17. The solids were characterized by SEM-EDX, TEM, XRD and N 2 adsorption. The SEM-EDX analysis showed an increase of crystaline domain size and Si/Al ratio of zeolite with crystalization time. The composite materials were obtained from gels with surfactant/Si = 0.17.
