Abstract:

The low bacteriological quality of swimming pool water, a product of physico-chemical characteristics (temperature, pH and residual chlorine) which it possesses constitutes a health risk for water sports athletes who must use them for an average of 5 to 6 continuous hours, being exposed to different bacteriological diseases such as diarrhoea and dermal diseases, Therefore, analyzing the bacteriological quality of the water in the pools as a risk factor for water sports in Ecuador was the objective of this field study, descriptive of exploratory-evaluative type with support of documentary basis. For the analysis of the water quality of the pools, 32 water samples were collected, with two replicates one for bacteriological analysis and the other for physico-chemical analysis during the period from August - October 2019. Among the results, the presence of total Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Coliformes in the waters of the pools of the Mosquetero Complex of Guayaquil was determined.. The bacteriological presence in the equipment of the facilities of the swimming pools is the result of an absence of effective maintenance that must be carried out to such equipment for the elimination of the bacteriological residues that are presented in them.
