Basic juvenile magma associated with Mount St. Helens-type events at Colima Volcanoes, Mexico

Abstract:

Pyroclastic deposits of surge-type have been observed in association with large debris-avalanche land masses at Nevado and Fuego de Colima. Basic juvenile magma related to deep magma supplies in the shallow chambers is found in these surge-deposits. Compared to previously studied Mount St. Helens (MSH) - type Events, this basic material may give a new insight into the possible causes at the origins of MSH type eruptions. -English summary
