Beliefs, attitudes and practices in sexuality in students of clinical psychology of the catholic university of cuenca
Abstract:
The study characterizes the knowledge, attitudes and sexual behaviors of the university students of the career of Clinical Psychology of UCACUE. A descriptive cross-sectional, observational research was carried out in which 122 students from the UCACUE Clinical Psychology Career participated in the period 2015-2017. The instrument used was a questionnaire prepared by the Pan American Health Organization with a format that corresponds to Beliefs, Attitudes and Practices (CAP), validated at the international level to obtain information on sexuality and sexual health of the young. There is a high degree of vulnerability in relation to Sexual Health; Insufficient knowledge levels, misconceptions regarding contraceptive use, sexually transmitted infections, and condom use. Unfavorable attitudes towards homosexuality, Sexual Education and the type of sexual relations where they should use protective measures; Early onset of sexual intercourse, associated with consumption of alcohol or other substances, instability in the use of contraceptive methods.
