Best Connection of Fault Locators in the Overhead Distribution System: Case Study in urban/rural feeders

Abstract:

This article presents a study for the best implementation of fault locating elements (FL) in the overhead Distribution system. Consequently, 4 feeders from urban and other 4 in rural sector belonging to the South Central Regional Electricity Company have been taken as reference, in each feeder, three types of simulations were performed, those are based on the number of clients, the installed power and the energy consumed, for this purpose ARCGIS software was used. With the correct implementation of failure locating elements the decrease of the values in SAIDI index is searched, as well as the established indices at National level FMIK and TTIK for the purpose of contributing the improvement of quality and reliability in the distribution systems.
