A novel heart failure risk tool: the BCN Bio-HF calculator
Abstract:
Background: Mortality remains high in heart failure (HF) and physicians need to dispose of adequate tools to appropriately stratify prognosis. Combining clinical and routine laboratory data with different biomarkers reflecting different pathophysiological pathways has been found superior to models not using such multimarker strategy. Objectives: To develop a novel calculator (BCN Bio-HF calculator)with the use of a multivariate risk model to pbkp_redict 1-, 2-, and 3-year mortality in HF patients. Easily accessible clinical characteristics, routine laboratory parameters, therapy and biomarkers were included in the model. Methods: After an initial evaluation of 22 variables, 15 models were developed.
