A novel high output voltage DC-DC LLC resonant converter with symmetric voltage quadrupler rectifier for RF communications


Abstract:

This paper presents a high power density DC-DC converter for Radio Frequency (RF) transmitters. To meet the requirement of high voltage gain, LLC based converter followed by high frequency step up transformer and symmetrical quadrupler rectifier is proposed. The key advantage of using quadrupler in place of conventional rectifier and multiplier is discussed. The various modes of operation of converter with Self Sustained Oscillation Control (SSOC) are explained. Subsequently, the closed loop simulation of complete converter using SSOC is carried out and results are discussed. A scaled down prototype of proposed converter is developed and experimental results are shown.
