Bibliometric analysis of Web of Science database STEM fields in Engineering and Mathematics. Ecuador’s case study

Abstract:

The scientific production in Ecuador has been increasing considerably over the last two decades; the actual research proceeds to conduct the specific bibliometric analysis of the publications in STEM subjects in Engineering and Mathematics from the Web of Science Core Collection in 1990–2021. Through 4 steps of a data preprocessing structured methodology, were outcome two datasets of which 4 650 publications became inputs to quantitative analysis of Engineering and Mathematics Web of Science Categories, each verifying Price’s Law (R2 = 0.9485) establishing the exponentially increasing of documents published and a Pareto’s Law approximation percent of articles published within 63 research areas. 86.69% of all publications are in the English language from both clusters (data set) analyzed.
