Bibliometric approach to services provided by the information professional

Abstract:

This article describes the experience accumulated in the service furnished to users from the standpoint of Information Sciences â specifically what concerns the bibliometrical exercise â which becomes a useful working tool for information professionals (IP, as well as the expression of the scientific foundation of this tool. This article specifies, enunciates and enriches the concepts associated to bibliometrics and scientometrics, as well as the adoption of terms that form the bibliotecological space and spectrum. The paradigm of interdisciplinarity in the theoretical and practical field of the furnished service is mentioned Also, it illustrates the paradigm of the cognitive equation of Information Science in the service, which has become both a tool and research, thus enlarging the working horizon of the information professional
