Bienestar y apoyo social percibido en mujeres divorciadas estudiantes de la Universidad de Cuenca
Abstract:
A proper family functioning is fundamental for the well-being of all its members, but, the breakdown of this system through divorce represents an event that causes changes in emotional, behavioral, economic and social well-being. The aim of this research was to describe the level of well-being and the perception of social support that divorced female university students have. 50 female students from the University of Cuenca participated in this study. The PERMA profile of Butler and Kern in its adaptation to the Ecuadorian context (Lima et al., 2017) was used to measure the level of well-being; and the Questionnaire DUKE-UNK-11 in its adaptation to Spanish context, was used to know the perception of social support (Bellón et al., 1996). The methodological process followed a quantitative approach, a non-experimental design, of transversal type and descriptive scope. The results are expressed by measures of central tendency and dispersion; Kolmogorov Smirnov test was used to check the normality of data. Non-parametric tests such as U Mann Whitney and Spearman's rho coefficient was computed to demonstrate the relationship between some variables. The most relevant results indicate that the majority of participants showed scores closer to the maximum of the well-being scale. Also, they perceive social support that comes especially from their parents and family members. It was possible to conclude that the majority of female university students perceived a level of well-being close to the maximum proposed by the PERMA scale, even though haven gone through a divorce process. Social support, is positively perceived.
