Bienestar y resiliencia en adultos con virus de inmunodeficiencia humana en una institución de salud pública
Abstract:
In Ecuador three out of every thousand people, live with the Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) according to the Ministry of Public Health, being important the investigation about mental health in patients with this condition. For that reason, the general objective of this research was to describe the levels of wellness and resilience in adults from18 to 64 years old diagnosed with HIV Cuenca city. The research was done with a non-experimental quantitative approach, being of transversal type and of descriptive scope. The participants were 100 IESS patients diagnosed with HIV between the ages from 19 to 61 who attended to external medical consultation at the José Carrasco Arteaga Hospital. Of the 100 patients, 86 were male and 14 females. Two questionnaires were applied: the adaptation of the PERMA Profile in the Ecuadorian context to measure the level of well-being, and the Connor-Davidson resilience scale. For data analysis there were used descriptive statistics and central tendency measurements. The results indicated that the HIV-positive population presents levels of well-being and resilience that are above of the average of the scales.
