Biometric systems applied in smartphones

Abstract:

Due to the technological advances that have arisen in recent years, the use of smartphones has become an indispensable resource for the human being, this is due to the fact that it allows carrying out daily activities such as telephone calls, sending messages, taking photos, using social networks, email, bank account management, purchases and online payments. Therefore, users must have privacy of personal information using security systems that do not allow easy access on devices. Currently most companies that are dedicated to sell mid-range and highend smartphones already include biometric systems, in this work we will talk specifically about three systems which are facial recognition, iris scanner and fingerprints. We chose these three security mechanisms since they are the safest identification techniques that exist in the market. These techniques basically perform a pattern recognition which has been previously stored in a database.
