Biophysical interaction of nanodiamond with biological entities in vivo

Abstract:

In summary we have exemplified research works related to the functionalizations/conjugations of NDs and the characterizations tools used to examine them. We have discussed nano-carbon (including ND particle) interactions with bacteria and the very first investigations concerning the interaction of NDs with ciliated protozoa microorganisms. These investigations allow us to further develop new methods for in vivo imaging and to study the various mechanisms of nanostructure interactions with different bio-systems. We believe that this type of study is necessary and important as it is an intermediate step that interlinks cells and organisms for the development of effective applications and helps in understanding more deeply the interaction of NDs with living organisms in vivo.
