Abstract:
Brucellosis is a zoonotic disease of worldwide distribution, it is highly contagious and is considered one of the most persistent zooanthroponosis, it is characterized by the presence of abortions, placentitis, epididymitis and orchitis and decreased milk production. The objective of this work was to describe the history, geographical distribution, epidemiology, transmission and measures for its prevention and control in Ecuador. It was concluded that bovine brucellosis continues to be a condition that continues to cause problems in livestock and public health, regardless of the efforts and results of the control program implemented; the strengthening of strategies that allow the eradication of this evil is inescapable, since the fight against the patema has not ended in Ecuador.
