Abstract:
The constant changes in different forms of consumption, stimulates more and more research related to market and the consumer profile. In this sense, the objective of this study was to analyze the market and contextualize the consumer profile of the red pitaya fruit in municipality of Tomé-Açu/PA. The sample was made up of 300 interviewees at different points of sale, for the collection of data a questionnaire was applied containing structured and semi-structured questions, which addressed aspects related to the market and consumer satisfaction. The results showed that the main decisive aspects at the time of purchase were color and flavor, followed by hygiene and product price. In the demand for pitaya for the elasticity-price coefficient it was (-0.332), showing the inverse relationship between price and quantity, for the elasticity-income the coefficient was 0.205 indicating that 10% increases in consumers' income caused increases 2.05% in demand for pitaya and the main substitute was açaí with 45.33% of the responses.
