Brewer's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) in Broilers chickens

Abstract:

With the objective of obtaining a higher growth speed and fattening capacity of chickens, most poultry farmers indiscriminately add growth promoter antibiotics in the diet of the poultry, a method that is especially harmful to the health of the consumer; therefore, an idea was put forward to evaluate the inclusion effect of three levels of Saccharomyces cerevisiae beer yeast on the productive behavior of Broiler chickens. 400 one-day old broiler chickens were used, distributed completely at random in four treatments T0 (nt), T1 (400 gr/Tn), T2 (500 gr/Tn), T3 (600 gr/Tn), four replicas per treatment and 25 chickens per replica. The experimental period was of 42 days; the zootechnical management of the poultry was similar for all of the blocks, water was given at will, while the food was rationed according to the established intake in different poultry breeding manuals. The results showed no significant statistical difference (P>0.05), in terms of food consumption and mortality. The addition of 600 gr of Saccharomyces cerevisiae/Tn of food, achieved a competitive response with the rest of the treatments, registering a final weight of 3046.4 gr/chicken, an average feed conversion of 1.45 and a cost-benefit of $1.50 per chicken. It is concluded that the addition of Saccharomyces cerevisiae significantly improves the productive parameters of broiler chickens, especially body weight and feed conversion.
