Bulblet size and naphthalene acetic acid on vegetative growth and yield of the bunching onion (Allium fistulosum L.)

Abstract:

The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of the bulblet size (BS) and the concentration of naphthalene acetic acid (0, 100 and 200 mg.kg-1) on the vegetative growth and yield of the bunching onion (Allium fistulosum L.) cultivated in beds. Three BS were used: whole bulblets, half the length of the bulblet (LB) and a fourth of LB. Forty five days after planting, the statistical analysis showed that only the BS had significant effect on the variables studied, except for the diameter of the leaf. It is concluded that the planting of whole bulblets or the half length of the bulblet allowed obtaining the maximum vegetative growth, and the whole bulblets the highest yield in this vegetable, expressed on fresh and dry biomass by surface.
