Burnout in Teachers of Educational Institutions of the Coastal Regime of Ecuador
Abstract:
The objective of this study is to determine the levels of burnout existing in teachers of the Educational Units of Ecuador, coastal regime. This is a quantitative research, with an exploratory and descriptive scope, developing a review of the origin, concepts and dimensions of burnout, through a field study applied to 701 teachers who were studying for their master’s degree in Educational Management in a Higher Education Institution. The results obtained show that 5% of teachers are in Burnout, however, there are 9% of teachers who have a high level of emotional exhaustion and 11% could be on the way to Burnout, which would bring negative repercussions for the teacher and the institution. In addition, it is important to observe the average levels of each of the dimensions of Emotional Fatigue and Depersonalization, which could reach high levels and trigger the syndrome. It is concluded that there should be public policies that guarantee the health and care of education professionals, allowing them to perform their functions optimally, which generates benefits in their performance.
