Abstract:

Introduction: Tuberculosis (TB) is an important public health problem worldwide and in Brazil, where 80,000 new cases were reported per year and occupies the 16th position among the countries with the highest burden of disease. In Bahia, the incidence rate was 34.4 per 100,000 inhabitants and Salvador had a rate of 73.7 per 100,000 inhabitants in 2007. Several studies in developed and developing countries indicate association of TB with poor living conditions. Aiming to understand the distribution of tuberculosis in urban areas, new methodologies like spatial analysis has been implemented.
