COVID-19 PREDOMINANT VARIANTS IN ECUADOR AND THEIR ASSOCIATED SYMPTOMS


Abstract:

Coronaviruses are classified into variants of concern (VOC) and variants of interest (VOI). The main objective of this article is to review the different signs and symptoms presented by patients with COVID-19. Additionally, the frequency is establis-hed and disease prevention measures are promoted through bibliographic reviews of academic platforms and documents published by the World Health Organization (WHO). Differences in symptomatology and transmissibility are reported. It was reviewed that this will depend on each variant (Delta, Gamma, Lambda, Alpha and Omicron) were the most common symptoms were: cough, fever, headache, and odynophagia, while the least common were: anosmia, dysgeusia and gastrointes-tinal symptoms. Alpha and Delta were the variants that stand out for the mutations present at the level of the Spike protein, which makes them more transmissible.
