Abstract:

Background Patients with ESCKD on dialysis have a high prevalence of AF and at a very high risk for thromboembolic and bleeding events. OAC has not proved a net clinical benefit yet. The aim of this registry was to analyze the effectiveness and safety of LAAO in a cohort of patients on dialysis. Methods 237 dialysis patients with NVAF who underwent LAAO with WATCHMAN between Jan13-Feb22 were included (70 prospectively, 167 retrospectively). Primary effectiveness endpoint was the combined incidence of TIA, stroke, SE or major bleeding event (MBE) BARC> 2. Observed incidence of adverse events were compared with the estimated rates according to CHA 2 DS 2-VASc and HASBLED scores. Two secondary safety endpoints were defined.
