A review of university archive planning in ecuador

Abstract:

An analysis of the present situation of planning techniques by Ecuatorian university archives is described. The directors of the 58 archives kept by the country’s private and public halls of higher education accbkp_redited by the High Council of Ecuador were surveyed, with a response rate of 43 %, to ascertain the use of planning and the utility of these institutions. The findings reveal a lack of strategic planning know-how and the concom-itant need for archive management and planning train-ing. With rare exceptions, none of the very few archives has up-to-date strategic plans in keeping with institu-tional aims and publish them on their websites.
