Canine Rage: Its history, epidemiology and its control measures


Abstract:

Rabies is a zoonotic viral disease, millennial and of great importance for public health, has a wide distribution worldwide and is endemic in almost all of Latin America. The dog constitutes the main reservoir and transmitter of the patema. The present work aims to highlight the most relevant aspects of canine rabies in relation to its history, epidemiology and measures for its control. In terms of prevention and control measures, vaccination is the most effective tool for disease control. It was concluded that rabies continues to be a serious problem for public health in nations with less economic resources and the dog is still the major transmitter of the disease, so it is necessary to continue strengthening prevention and control measures to continue decreasing The presence of this patema in Latin America.
