Capacidad Biofísica del Sendero Ecológico “El agua y la vida” del Páramo de Papallacta, como medida de control turístico.

Abstract:

The tourist activity generates disturbance processes that alter the stability of ecosystems due to its poor planning and the lack of environmental control processes. The tourist load capacity (CCT) is a control tool that allows the actions to be made possible in order to preserve the tourist scenarios. The Ecological Path "Water and Life" (SEAV) is presented as one of the main tourist scenarios in the highlands area of the Cayambe Coca National Park (PNCC) and currently shows great pressure due to the lack of management and control for the development of the Tourist activity. This pressure is identified in greater incidence in areas where repeated erosion and waterlogging samples were recognized, because the constant course of visitors in these areas, it reduces the possibilities of a natural replenishment of the conditions of this ecosystem. The tourist load capacity analyzed for this trail shows that it can support the visit of 44 people daily, which would represent 16094 visitors per year; these values compared to the visitor records determined for 2018 in the Baños area of the PNCC, (68 visitors per day and 24695 per year), determine that there is a surpass of 24 visitors that will eventually increase by 6% by 2019 according to to the records analyzed since 2014; the pressure would increase the extension and persistence of the identified environmental impact.
