Capítulo 6 La organización comunal en la Península de Santa Elena: contexto y desafíos

Abstract:

This paper aims to analyze the current situation of the municipalities of the province of Santa Elena Ecuador, from an ethnographic approach to community organization. The basic questions that will address the issue in question are: What are the main conflicts that cross the communes today? What does being a commoner? To what extent is the community organization in an effective social, economic and political response of community members? What engaging players have been linked with the community organizing process? What are the new challenges facing the communities? Reflection consists of three parts: input the geographical description of Santa Elena, the organizational dynamics of the communes and the Federation of Municipalities of the Province of Santa Elena is performed. In the second stage are indicated, the role of community organization in terms of finding strategic partners in the field and organizational development perspective. In a third stage, the main problems faced by the community organization and finally described, by way of conclusion the challenges that the communities in the current political and social context in the country arise.
