Caracterización de la microbiota oral en adolescentes de 15 años

Abstract:

The oral micro biota is a vast ecosystem of bacteria located on various surfaces of the oral cavity, in adolescents this environment is usually altered due to the bio physiological changes that this age group comprises, modifying the frequency and diversity of bacteria and at the same time contributing to the formation of diseases such as dental caries. The aim of this study is to establish the characteristics of the oral microbiota in 15 year-old adolescents in the ¨Liceo Patria Universal High School¨ through microbial counting obtained from samples of healthy and carious tooth surface. The methodological design corresponds to a descriptive, inductive- deductive, transversal and non-experimental study. It was considered the International Caries Detection and Assessment System (ICDAS) for the diagnosis of healthy and carious surfaces, the O’Leary index to know the plaque percentage of each student and the bacteriological counter that allows representing the number of each colony and the total of visible bacteria in the sample. Findings suggest that in carious dental pieces, the Mutans Streptococcus was found with 10% in the male sex and 13% in the female sex, the Salivarius Staphylococcus with 4%M and 3%F. In healthy teeth, Stafilococco Sp. 1% M 7% F and Albus Staphylococcus 7% M and 6% F. In all, the oral microbiota is a community of microorganisms that reside in our mouth to fulfill important functions, it is a valuable tool that allows the correct identification of the bacterial colonies that inhabit the oral cavity.
