Caracterización del ausentismo laboral por causa médica y maternidad registrado en el centro de atención ambulatoria 302 del Instituto Ecuatoriano de Seguridad Social Cuenca-Ecuador 2014


Abstract:

Absenteeism is a global phenomenon that affects public and private institutions with an increasing tendency. It is a multifactorial problem involving business entities as well as health agencies. Since general diseases are the leading causes of it, causing a negative effect on the worker, due to the consequences on health, the company and society and the lower productivity and commitment to economic and social development. Objective: To determine absenteeism by medical causes and motherhood in the ambulator y care center 302 of the Ecuadorian Social Security Institute (IESS) in Cuenca, Ecuador during 2014. Methodology: A descriptive cross-sectional study, which used 10.412 emitted certificates. The elements of the medical record were complemented with patient records and the patient’s database of the Institute of Social Security (IESS). With the resulting forms a database was built using Microsoft Excel, which was analyzed using the software SPSS to obtain the final results. Results: Some of the results obtained are listed as follow: 52.4% of the 10.412 certificates are women and 47.6% males. The average age of the patients is 38.31 years old. 71.2% of the public sector. The average length of absence is 3.9 days. Finally, the day with most absenteeism is mondays, and the month is october. The compensation payment given to the patients is 55.124USD. Other data indicates that among the most common diseases are: Infectious diseases of digestive and respiratory systems, musculoskeletal pain and dental causes. Maternity leave account only for 1.9% of the absences
