Caracterización epidemiológica y complicaciones en pacientes menores de 5 años con diagnóstico de nefroblastoma

Abstract:

Introduction: The nephroblastoma or renal embryo as it is also known as Wilms' tumor. This disease is considered as the first reference of a malignant cancerous tumor in which a state of remission of the condition associated with pharmacological treatment mediated by drugs of chemotherapeutic use was reached, demonstrating a high therapeutic effectiveness. Methodology: Consists of a cross-sectional research work, with descriptive analysis, non-experimental and developed with a retrospective approach, in which a database composed of patients under the ICD diagnosis code was used as a source of information. 10 C64, corresponding to Tumor de Wilms, which was approved by the Management area and granted by the Statistics Department of the SOLCA Hospital in the city of Guayaquil. Results: An analysis of cases according to the age of the patients distributed in age groups was carried out, distributing them among 2 age groups: under 2 years old and over 2 years old. It was possible to determine a high prevalence, with respect to the age of the patient between 0 to 2 years of age, corresponding to 34 cases (68.00%). In this way, a greater relationship is observed between the development of frames compatible with Nephroblastoma or Wilms tumor and the age range between 0 to 2 years of age. (p <0.005) Conclusions: It is concluded that there is an extremely low risk of mortality in these patients, due to the fact that it is observed in a low number of cases in which the patient dies.
