A social framework for set recommendation in group recommender systems

Abstract:

In this research proposal we present a framework that is intended to improve Group Recommender Systems. The framework structure includes a process where an influential group is detected among the target groups of people to recommend to. In order to help the group members agree and make a decision, the visualization of the alternative chosen by the influential group and the reasons why they adopted that recommendation are presented for the target susceptible group. (The term susceptibility will be used through the article making reference to the group that is highly perceived as being easily influenced.) Trying to discover influential established groups in a social network and seeing if susceptible groups adopt the recommendations provided by them is considered the main challenge for our future research. Combining this with the kind of item recommendation which involves a sequence of ordered elements will present a novel and original path in Group Recommender Systems design.
