Características epidemiológicas y clínicas de pacientes pediátricos con parálisis cerebral.


Abstract:

ABSTRACT Objective: to determine the epidemiological and clinical characteristics of pediatric patients with cerebral palsy at the Vicente Corral Moscoso Hospital, Cuenca. 2015 Methodology: It is a descriptive, cross-sectional study, performed in patients less than 16 years old with cerebral palsy. Based on the medical history and the application of instruments to identify: prenatal, natal and postnatal characteristics, socioeconomic status, and family functionality. The information was processed in SPSS version 15. Results:  A total of 72 patients were found: 37 children (51.4%), mean age 6.2 ± 4 years; mean maternal age 25.3 ± 7.66 years; urban residence 61.1%; low middle socioeconomic status 42.1%; 75% highly functional families; prenatal controls 8.3%; urinary infection 36.1%; eutocic delivery 62.5%; adequate weight 47.2%; Apgar greater than 6 at 5 minutes 40.32%; 38.9% received resuscitation; admitted to neonatology 54.2%; neuroinfection 6.9%; 84.7% spastic cerebral palsy; epilepsy 80.6%; brain atrophy 53.85%; respiratory infection 43.05%; mean age of diagnosis 8 ± 10.75 months.
