Cardiovascular risk factors
Abstract:
In the population in general, there is a tendency to develop new ways and lifestyles with less energy expenditure and high degree of stress, and a massive consumption of foods rich in saturated fats. The objective of this work was to perform an updated review and a meta analysis on cardiov ascular risk factors, for which the literature was reviewed. As important results of a study that was done in the adult populationof the province of Manabf, Ecuador, it should be noted that the cardiovascular risk factors that most affect the population are dyslipidemia, poor nutritional habits, obesity, lack of physical exercise, alcohol consumption, and smoking. The prevalence of Hypertension found was 14.09% and Type 2 Diabetes was 6.03%. According to a meta-analysis conducted in Spain, it was identified that the most frequent cardiovascular risk factors are hypertension in those over 65 years of age, excess weight in adult women and smoking in men. In the Spanish population as a whole 23% have high v alues of total cholesterol. 33% are smokers (41% of men and 24% of women): 34% have high blood pressure; 20% are obese (18% of men and 23% of women) 2; and diabetes affects 8% of women and 12% of men.
