Carrying capacity and pressure of land use in four sectors of the river deleg subbasin, Cañar Province, Ecuador

Abstract:

Carriying capacity land-use (CCLU) and its relationship with the pressure land-use (PLU), according to the surface usable and agricultural use and without use times, in four sectors of the Sub-basin of the river Deleg, Cañar province, Ecuador Republic, it was determined. Based on a survey it obtained the information of the variables required to calculate values pressure land-use (PLU) in Bayandel, Chini, Deleg and Nueva Alianza sectors. An empirical model in which the parameters PLU and CCLU exhibit an inverse relationship, it was applied; ie CCLU = 1-PLU. According CCLU values obtained in Bayandel (0.69) and Chini (0.46) sectors, a level of agro-ecological and environmental sustainability moderate, was estimated for both sites. By contrast, would be low to very low for sectors Nueva Alianza (0.23) and Deleg (0.00), respectively. It was found that a higher value of the relationship between culture period (Tc) and period uncultivated land (Tb); that is, Tc/Tb; it has a lower the value of the CCLU, under which there is greater PLU. It define a public policy for to regulate access and best land use by small producers, was recommended to Deleg GAD, since very few people have much land surface, reaching above the values be averages of demand for land, which distorts PUT and CCUT calculations.
