Abstract:

Sexually transmitted infections (STIs), including HIV, is a major health issue with respect to international travel. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), HIV/AIDS-associated illnesses have caused the deaths of over 20 million people since 1981 and an estimated 39 million or more cases had occurred worldwide by the end of 2004. Moreover, an estimated 5 million new HIV infections occurred worldwide in 2004 alone, which represent approximately 14,000 new infections each day. © 2007 Springer Science+Business Media, LLC.
