Causes that originate rejection of articles in Latin American scientific journals

Abstract:

There is currently a consensus around the link between research and scientific publications; academic journals are a device for disseminating and disseminating research findings; however, the task has become an intricate and exhausting process for the authors. Due to the above, this inquiry has been raised as a central objective to identify why some specialized journals in Latin America reject scientific articles to help improve the acceptance rates of researchers’ work. For this, descriptive research has been carried out with a quantitative, non-experimental, and cross-sectional design approach; using an intentional convenience sample of sixty articles from four regional journals. The investigation reveals a considerable number of errors detected by editors when rejecting an article in the 11 dimensions analyzed; in all of them, the identified errors exceed 60%; the dimensions to which a higher frequency of reasons for rejection are associated are those related to: “Introduction,” “Theoretical Foundations” and “Methodology,” each of these with a percentage greater than 90%.
