Characteristic-locus method in transient stability of power systems

Abstract:

This paper concentrates on studying the stability of a power system in the same way as for multivariable system. The classical transient stability study is based on the application of a three-phase fault, then the state variables move away from the equilibrium point. The system stability is analyzed using the characteristic locus method at critical clearing time. The simulation results are on the IEEE 5 and EPRI 16 bus test systems.
