Abstract:

In the current knowledge society, the new trends and social, labor, economic and technological behaviors derived from globalization will be incorporated, transmitted and consolidated from the organizational culture of universities and educational centers, promoting the attitudes of their members, their effectiveness and performance. Given this important role, the present study aims to characterize the organizational culture of Universidad Tecnológica Empresarial de Guayaquil to guide processes of change and continuous improvement. Based on a mixed approach, the Denison questionnaire was applied randomly to 85 members of the university, together with interviews and focus groups, according to the inclusion criteria of the informants. A balanced assessment is found for the four cultural dimensions of the model with a general average of 76.88, ranking at an upper median level. The leading dimension is the mission (78.13), followed by involvement (78.04), consistency (76.17) and adaptability (75.18). It is concluded that the university must incorporate measures to make its performance more effective, particularly in terms of the sub-dimensions: Customer orientation, capacity building, and agreements.
