Characterization of the vehicles fleet which belong to the m1 category of the canton cuenca according to its constructive properties and levels of emission

Abstract:

The largest source of pollution in the city of Cuenca is caused by the car fleet, the data recorded by the EMOV EP (Municipal Public Company of Mobility, Transit and Transportation of Cuenca) documents of the “Inventory of emissions”; they present an unsuitable methodology for the calculation of polluting emissions, because they do not conform to the reality of the city of Cuenca to obtain their results, as there are methods used abroad that take into account characteristics of European and American vehicles. The present investigation points out the different methodologies used in different countries for the conjecture of polluting emissions, proposing a characterization corresponding to Cuenca, with the real figures of vehicles in the city, with all their properties and emission levels of polluting gases. Finally, a statistical analysis is presented to determine the emission factor existing in the vehicles analyzed and in this way the pollution indices depending on the different brands and models because in the acquired emission factor it does not represent the entire automotive park of Cuenca because Calculates for a vehicle and multiplies for the number of existing cars within the database, without taking into account the makes, models and year of manufacture of the vehicle.
