Class Copepoda

Abstract:

An updated taxonomic review of the class Copepoda from the Neotropical Regions is presented in this chapter. Dichotomous identification keys to the lowest justifiable taxonomic level based on the most recent literature are provided for free-living cycloploid (including a small group of parasitic Ergasilidae), calanoid, and harpacticoid copepods. Both planktonic and benthic taxa are included. Material preparation methods, defined morphological terms, and current limitations in the knowledge of the group are also presented.
