Cloud Computing Architecture with Dockers for an Industrial Process
Abstract:
With the rise of the internet of things, research activities have turned to the study of Industrial Internet of Things, with the objective of improving productivity, energy efficiency, modern control systems, real-time monitoring and control from anywhere in the world with the adaptation of computer networks to industrial sensors and actuators. This document presents a cloud computing architecture focused in the control of an industrial process based on virtualized systems called dockers implemented in a Raspberry Pi, that enable reducing the migration cost to an intelligent industrial application while maintaining real-time communication requirements, low latency and security techniques for information technology. The experimental result shows certain advantages, such as the use of scalable platforms that save resources and that are compatible with any operating system, easy to install, manage and migrate. Moreover, the use of protocol message queuing telemetry transport allows the communication of the dockers with each station and the Ubuntu web server, obtaining a transmission time that oscillates between 6 ms and 8 ms, time that is appropriate for wireless industrial process control.
