Collection and isolation of plant species from the province of Morona Santiago with potential medicinal use

Abstract:

The present study deals with the improvement and rationalization of folk medicine practices based on the use of plants from the ecuadorian Amazon. The project's starting point was the research on the use of medicinal plants as found by the teacher's experience with Achuar and Shuar students of Amazonian Resources Technologies. Medicinal plants were collected in four different areas of the Province of Morona Santiago. As a result, two herbaria were set up at Universidad Politecnica Salesiana which contain around 1.000 vegetal species.
