Communication analysis of the political actors in the face of the possible adherence of Ecuador to the pacific alliance

Abstract:

The Pacific Alliance emerged in 2012 as an initiative of Mexico, Colombia, Peru and Chile. During the government of the Citizen Revolution, former President Rafael Correa stated on repeated occasions that Ecuador would not be part of these “adventures”. However Lenin Moreno, president of Ecuador for the same party (Alianza País) said that the Alliance is an option that should be reviewed. The study elaborates a communication analysis of the actors that manage the foreign and the commercial policy in the face of a possible adherence to the Pacific Alliance. The methodology used is of descriptive type, of a mixed approach, and exploratory. For the development of the research, an ad hoc methodological research table was used and it allowed to analyze the pronouncements of the Chancellery and the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Investments from January 2013 to December 2018. About the results, it is expected to show how there has been a change of discourse, a move away from the integration schemes proposed in the past and a turn towards the free trade.
