Communication and social mobilization action strategies on dengue in Santa Elena the Uairen of the municipality Gran Sabana state Bolívar 2018


Abstract:

Currently, in Venezuela DENV serotypes are in circulation in 80% of the territory, positioning itself as a public health problem, with absence of treatments and vaccines, where the importance of community participation is highlighted as a key point for the resolution of this problem For this, it is essential to know what they know, what they do, how they behave in the face of the disease, through the CAP survey (behavior, attitudes and practices). For this reason, it is proposed to estimate the level of knowledge about DENV disease and develop guidelines for a strategy for communication and social mobilization actions in Santa Elena de Uairen of the municipality Gran Sabana state Bolívar 2018. The design was descriptive, transversal and field. The sample consisted of 87 heads of family, during the period June and September. As a result it was observed in a general way that 64.08% have some knowledge about the mosquito responsible for transmitting DENV, 77.01% knew the symptoms and only 22.99% knew the differences between the signs and symptoms of dengue classic and dengue hemorrhagic, it was evidenced that the majority (56.32%) obtained information on television, expressed that the responsibility of mosquito control within the community 63.22% and 5.57% was of each person. In conclusion, social communication for public health is the process of social influence that provides knowledge, forges attitudes and promotes practices aimed at improving the health of the population.
