Community tourism from the local development perspective: A challenge for the Comuna 23 de Noviembre, Ecuador

Abstract:

Community tourism is a strong local development option in Ecuador, due to its territories of great ethnic, cultural and biological diversity. This research delineates its key factors, through a theoretical review and systematic fieldwork in the Comuna 23 de Noviembre. It proposes a management model with four strategic lines, linked to the community social capital, revealing that the commune is organized and self-managed but requires deepening the establishment of multi-level agreements and territorial networks.
