Companies in the footwear sector. Path to efficiency

Abstract:

Manufacturing plays an important role since it is one of the sectors that contributes the most to Gross domestic product and generates more jobs. For this reason, this research is carried out since the relationship between technical efficiency and production factors of manufacturing companies in the footwear sector of the province of Tungurahua in the period 2013-2018 is analyzed. For this purpose, the financial statements obtained from the website of the Superintendence of Companies, Securities and Insurance were considered, in order to determine the technical efficiency of the companies. The technical efficiency analysis found that 24% of companies are fully efficient and 76% are inefficient.
