ADJUVANT CAPACITY OF A LIPOPEPTIDE CONTAINING THE LALF31-52 PEPTIDE ON THE IMMUNE RESPONSE SPECIFIC TO THE HCV CAPSIDE INDUCED …

Abstract:

Abstract Development of a broad based cellular and humoral immune response to hepatitis C virus (HCV) structural proteins may be important for erradication of the infection. DNA-based immunization is a promising approach to generate HCV-specific immune responses. In an attempt to enhance the anti-HCV-core response induced by DNA-based immunization, the immunomodulatory effect of lipidical modification of the LALF31-52 peptide was evaluated. BALB/c mice were intramuscularly injected with an expression plasmid encoding a truncated variant of HCV-core protein, mixed with the lipopeptide, in a fourth doses schedule. A significant increase in the specific proliferative response in the groups inoculated with the lipopeptide variant respect to controls was obtained as early as the ninth week, which was kept until the last dose. Additionally, IFN-gamma ELISPOT verified induction of activated CTL precursors …
